"Rommel" - New Scratchboard Drawing

Saturday, December 17, 2011

This 5" x 7" drawing of Rommel the German Shepherd pup is on black scratchboard. After I did all the scratch work, I tinted it with water-soluble ink pencils. I mixed the colors with water on a separate surface and then painted them on the scratchboard. I mixed just three colors: pink, tan and dark brown.

See in-progress stages of this drawing in my Facebook Album.

I took this photo (and others) of Rommel at a Schutzhund event a few years ago. He's such a great subject that I've also done 2 miniature (ACEO) pencil drawings of him.

This is not a commissioned portrait, so it's available and currently at the Auburn Old Town Gallery. It's in a black wood frame with an easel back. Please contact me if you're interested in purchasing this drawing.
